Are you getting married? Congratulations! Do you know how lucky you are? You’ve won the lottery. You’ve found someone who loves you and wants to spend the rest of his or her life beside you, supporting you through all the ups and downs that life throws your way. You have a friend, a lover, a companion, and a soul mate. I hope you know that not everyone is so lucky.
Cherish this moment. Please don’t let it get lost in all of the wedding planning madness. The color of the bridesmaids dresses, the flavor of the cake, which flowers to choose ……. let these decisions be taken lightly. It’s supposed to be FUN!
We love a do-it-yourself wedding, because it will save you money of course, but it will also leave you with memories of time spent with the people who matter the most. Nothing can ever replace the time you spend with your mom as you work on the wedding dress together. Or perhaps your gramma would like to make the veil and you marvel at how she carefully sews on little crystals one by one. Maybe your dad went out to his workshop and made a beautiful wooden stand for the wedding cake and you will always remember how proud he was to be able to help. Willing bridesmaids might enjoy gathering the day before and making the bouquets they will carry down the aisle. The groom and his men may be charged with making the huppah or hiking along a local river bank hunting down the perfect river rocks to be used as place markers.
There is something truly satisfying about these moments, and no amount of money can buy the special time we spend with our loved ones. Projects bring people together. That’s the message we hope to impart.
