Everyone loves cupcakes for a wedding, and they are easy and economical to make!
Using your favorite cake mix and a basic buttercream frosting, like the one we share here, is all you need to feed your guests a lovely dessert that you can do yourself.
To frost a cupcake, you can either apply the frosting with a metal spatula or a butter knife, swirling it on in a random pattern, or you can use cake decorating tools. The best tools to have are a frosting bag with a coupler for the tips, and either a star tip or a round tip, or both if you want a bit of variation in how the finished cupcakes will look. Choose a medium size in either tip, such as a #16 star tip or a #3 round tip.
Begin by filling your frosting bag and putting on a tip and coupler. When you buy cake decorating tools, they always come with instructions showing you how to assemble the bag and the tips. Find these tools at a craft store.
When you have your cupcakes completely cooled, begin frosting them or decorating with the frosting tools. To decorate with your tools, start at the outside edge of your cupcakes, squeeze the frosting bag and begin to apply a ring of frosting until you reach the center.
Lift the tip up and off at the center, where there will be a little point of frosting. The round tip produces and smooth texture and the star tip has more ridges.
You can add a rose bud, or a raspberry, or other decoration if you like, but it isn’t necessary.
